Mollies

Mollies

Scientific Name: Poecilia Sphenops

Preferred Habitat: Temperatures 70*F - 82*F, mostly found in Central America, pH 7.5 - 8.5

Reproduction: Mollies are live bearers  which are fairly easy to breed. Adding aquarium salt helps the reproduction process.

Special Needs: Mollies do not like being in the same tank with other fish. They feel it is completely necessary to stay in the same tank with the same species. Males are much more slender, where as females are more round. Males also have a modified anal fin.

I chose this fish because my partners ( Delaney and Alex Legg ) and I have decided to breed our fish. Mollies are fairly easy to breed so we thought they would be a perfect fish for our tank. We have decided to get two females, one which will be pregnant, and one male molly.
We will not be putting in any other fish due to the fact that mollies only like living with their own species. Also, an important aspect of our tank will be controlling the temperature.
